Sometime last year I learned about a relatively new designation that Las Vegas Real Estate Agents can obtain – Senior Real Estate Specialist (“SRES”). This development is a major step in the right direction by recognizing that real estate agents dealing with seniors should understand the needs and issues facing this particular market segment. With this in mind, we decided to offer free workshops for agents to discuss these types of issues as well as potential liabilities.
I’m excited about our workshop series because of the positive feedback from Real Estate Agents, panelists and guest speakers. Each workshop we sponsor has seen increased participation. Our March 15th event attracted 30 attendees and featured an Independent Living and Assisted Care Facility, highlighting their services, activities, costs and referral fees. We also addressed liability issues that can arise from making referrals. Another workshop included discussions about what to do when an agent believes their clients’ suffer from dementia or undue influence. And one of our most interactive (spirited – I don’t want other workshops to seem less exciting) events included a panel of seniors who had been involved in recent real estate transactions in a “no holds barred” discussion of their likes and dislikes about their agents.
Again, our workshops are free and provide Real Estate Agents an opportunity to learn about servicing Nevada’s seniors, a market which is growing at a rate four times the national average. If you are interested in learning about our next free quarterly SRES workshop, please contact email@example.com.
